What is True? (the color is leaving me) by Randy J. Terry charcoal and pastel on paper 18"x 24" ©2005 |
| Artist's Statement: The premise of this artwork revolves around the task that every human has of trying to perceive what is true. Trying to separate what is actual from the fallacies and fiction that have been placed in one's mind by others and even by our own selves. Separating what is real from what is not real. Separating what is true from what is not true. It addresses words and stereotypes that people use to control us and that we use to justify our actions. Everyday is a struggle to separate this mental debris from the pureness of truth. Also, with this painting, color leaves my work. I find it nearly impossible to see color in this world right now. And I believe that it will be quite sometime before I am able to see it again. ~ Randy J. Terry © |
