Statement: This artwork represents a waning cry of Desperation & Desire .... It is about lying in bed with depression and having a dream that it will bottom out... It's about those times when you doubt that your body will ever produce the energy to work towards the goals that you love. The Darkness is a potent symbol of evil and wrong. The little bear is life waving good-bye: but, the Golden Girl's not going to let you go! It's when she leaves us: that is when it causes us to do sad things. (The Golden Girl is your Spirit.) The large star in the background is the symbol for the source of all life. The brass headboard symbolizes the things in life that separate you from that source. When we are depressed, we keep looking within ourselves for a cure. When in fact, it's when we reach out over the headboard - it's when our spirit connects with the source of life, that we begin to feel and produce energy, again. ~ Randy J. Terry |
